Ceri Richards was born in Dunvant at the
edge of Swansea in 1903. His works of the 1930's are widely regarded as
some of the most distinguished of that period by any British artist. He
was a natural draughtsman, a maker of constructions and also a designer
of stained glass but above all a painter of extraordinary virtuosity.
He was also a master printmaker and repeatedly turned to this medium throughout
his career, seeing it as an important mode of artistic expression. Indeed,
one of his prints has been described as the finest produced in the 20th
Century. Two suites of prints are particularly outstanding, the Beethoven
Suite and the Dylan Thomas Suite.

Colour Screenprints
This suite of nine screenprints was printed as two editions in1970 at Kelpra Studios. The first has an edition size of 60. Every print is numbered bottom left and with full signature bottom right and date ('70). The first half of the edition were produced as boxed sets which included a facsimile reproduction of an introductory letter by Yehudi Menuhin.
A second edition of the same prints, with an edition size of 10, was produced as ten "de Tete" boxed sets. The prints were numbered I - X, signed and dated as before. They were printed on hand-made paper. Included was an extra print, Prometheus, plus the letter by Yehudi Menuhin.
