John Elwyn
John Elwyn was born in rural Cardiganshire in 1916 and studied art at Carmarthen, Bristol and finally the Royal College of Art, London.. For many years he has shown in London and in Wales.
He was awarded the National Eisteddfod Gold Medal in 1956. His retrospective exhibition at the National Library of Wales in 1996 was a final accolade for a Welsh painter "who had practised his art with unswerving devotion and great distinction." He died in November 1997
