The gallery has a full exhibition programme
throughout 2003. As the year progresses we will update this
section, providing more information about individual exhibitions.
21st January
- 1st March
Winter
Group Exhibition
Most of the artists this gallery represents
have work on display in this mixed exhibition of paintings,
graphics and sculpture. The gallery represents over fifty
artists, and many live and work in Wales. This is an opportunity
to see the range and quality of work that is available at
the gallery.
8th
March - 29th March
Swansea
Print Workshop
The workshop opened in 1998 with the intention
of providing much needed printmaking and drawing facilities
in the Swansea area. The studio provides printmaking equipment
and technical advice to professional artists. It also promotes
and encourages community participation in the arts, running
numerous workshops. The aim of this exhibition is to bring
to a wider audience the work produced by the tutors themselves
and the artists who use the facilities.
5th April
- 26th April
George
Little and David Tress
This exhibition contrasts the work of two artists,
one whose inspiration is in the Welsh industrial landscape
and the other whose main theme is the rural landscape. George
Little's paintings centre on post-industrial Swansea, while
many of David Tress' paintings feature West Wales.
29th April -
7th June
Mixed Exhibition
- Gallery Artists
The artists we represent bring in work on a regular
basis and this exhibition is a re-hang of the gallery to show
the latest work.
14th
June - 5th July
Chris Griffin and Mike Jones
These two artists take their
inspirations from the post-industrial South Wales. Chris Griffin's
paintings develop into lyrical expressions of the landscape,
often using rich and emotional colour. Mike Jones has gained
a reputation for his evocative portrayal of the Welsh landscape
and its people, and in particular of the Swansea Valley where
he lives and paints.
12th July - 13th
September
Summer Group Exhibition
Selected new work from all the
artists who exhibit at the gallery.
20th
September - 11th October
Donald McIntyre
This solo exhibition celebrates
the 80th birthday of one of Wales' most distinguished artists.
Although he has lived in North Wales for much of his life,
his formative years were spent on the West Coast of Scotland
and has brought to the principality a palette rooted in the
Scottish Colourist Tradition.
18th
October - 8th November
Karel Lek and Paul Woodford
This exhibition features new
work by two contrasting artists. Lek is a keen observer of
the everyday and regards the streets as his studio. Woodford
is passionate about the art of landscape which he expresses
through paint and torn paper.
15th November
- 24th December
Winter Group Exhibition
This is a chance to catch up
with what the gallery's artists have been working on while
our other exhibitions have been running. As usual, there will
be a complete mix of new work in this rotating show. We always
receive more work than we can possibly hang at any one time.
There will always be something fresh to see throughout the
course of the exhibition.
Attic Gallery reopens on Tuesday 20th January 2004 when our
Winter Group Exhibition continues. Shortly after we will present
our exhibition programme for 2004.
