There will be more of an emphasis this
year on mixed and themed exhibitions with artists bringing
in new work throughout most of the year.
The second half of 2004 will feature three artists who will
be holding their first exhibitions at the gallery - Warren
Paul Williams, John
Cooper and Prudence
Walters. As the year progresses we will update this section
as exhibition dates are confirmed and images of the work become
available.
20th
January - 28th February
Winter Group Exhibition
This rotating exhibition features all the gallery
artists.
On show will be new paintings, graphics, sculpture, stained
glass
and Welsh pottery.
6th
March - 27th March
Leonard Beard and Nick Holly
Leonard Beard is a well established artist
who has recently joined our gallery, and this will be his
first full exhibition with us. His landscape and still life
painting will contrast with Nick Holly's paintings of his
community on the east-side of Swansea.
3rd
April - 8th May
Spring Showcase
This is a mixed exhibition of the latest work
from artists represented by the gallery. The exhibition also
introduces, for the first time to Attic Gallery, four artists
from the West Wales group fforma.
15th
May - 5th June
Maurice Cockrill RA RCA
We are pleased to present this solo show of
recent work by a leading British artist with strong Welsh
connections. A long and illustrious career has seen the artist
exhibit internationally for more than three decades with his
highly individual work, which in this exhibition hovers between
figuration and abstraction.
12th
June - 3rd July
Visions of the Valleys
With the closure of the mines and decline of
heavy industry, the last few decades has seen Wales become
one of the world's first post-industrial nations. This exhibition
highlights ten artists whose work is centred on the industrial
South Wales valleys and their communities and who have been
witness to these dramatic changes.
10th
July - 18th September
Summer Group Exhibition
The gallery represents over 50 artists, many
of whom live and work in Wales. Each artist has been invited
to contribute work to this changing exhibition, and new work
will continue to arrive throughout the summer.
25th
September - 16th October
Warren Williams
Regular visitors to the Gallery will have seen
the work of this exciting young emerging artist in our mixed
shows, but this will be his first, and eagerly awaited, solo
show here.
23rd
October - 13th November
John Cooper and Prudence Walters
This is a contrasting exhibition of paintings
from two artists - one figurative and one abstract. Cooper's
work is based on the South Wales Valleys where he was brought
up while Walters' vibrant abstract paintings are partly inspired
by her Carmarthenshire surroundings.
20th
November - 24th December
Winter Group Exhibition
The artists represented by our
gallery have all been invited to provide new work for this
mixed exhibition of paintings, graphics and sculpture. The
work of over fifty artists will be on show, most of who live
and work in Wales. This is a rotating show so there will always
something new to see. Work may be taken away on the day of
purchase.
Attic Gallery is a member of the Arts Council of Wales "Collectorplan"
scheme and can therefore offer interest free loans to purchase
original works of art from this exhibition.
