"I started painting with oils about 30 years ago and have never looked back. I love the smell and texture of the oil paints and the clarity and depth of colour that can be achieved with oils.
I enjoy painting still life composed of objects, fruits, flowers and leaves. I collect things with interesting shapes colours and textures when I see them at second hand or antique shops, markets etc. at home and abroad. They provide backing and scale for the fruits from my garden, friends or from the supermarket.
All my still life works are now painted on a fine smooth weave linen that I prepare myself. Apart from the fact that linen if well prepared will last indefinitely, I find I prefer the springiness that the linen gives the brush."
