Ken Dukes

Ken Dukes studied at Swansea College of Art and at Birmingham Polytechnic and was elected a member of The Welsh Group in 1981.

"The Landscape has always been important as a motif since I started painting as a teenager, in Wales. I have made landscape paintings from countries as diverse as Wales, Australia, Bangladesh and South West France (where I have a studio). I respond to the pared-down landscape of Winter which suits a minimalist palette and an emphasis on the horizontal. I also appreciate the French Summer and the burgeoning landscape of Aquitaine with its dense woodlands set against fields of Colza, Sunflowers and geometric planting of Poplars."

Ken's work has been exhibited at The National Museum of Wales and The National Library in Aberystwyth. He has also contributed to touring exhibitions in Scotland, Holland, Belgium, USA, The European D'Arte Moderne and The European Parliament.
